The City of Moultrie, located in Colquitt County, in SW Georgia, recently received it’s first case of the H1N1 virus; better known as Swine Flu. Needless to say, there is understandable concern in this growingl agricultural community. With many families living within close proximity to one another, the threat of an infection spreading amongst family members and the public at large is real.

Coupled with this, school resumes on August 17, 2009, with thousands of children and young adults facing potential exposure to an uncertain flu season. What’s a parent, or, anyone else for that matter, to do?

Among the heavily publicized preventive measures that everyone should take are:

Washing your hands
Covering your mouth when coughing
Avoiding people who are illA Healthy Immune System is the Cornerstone of Disease Prevention

An approached that is often completely overlooked and rarely talked about, yet, is critical in your prevention efforts and is usually within the control of every citizen in the county; is making sure that you have a healthy immune system; particularly is the vital for children, the elderly, and those with existing respiratory problem conditions.

With more and more respected doctors and scientists coming to the conclusion that an optimized immune system is the cornerstone of good health and disease prevention, it’s important that everyone, whether at risk for H1N1, or not; to take steps now to improve their bodies natural and unique defenses. Simply put, a properly functioning immune system will enable the body to mount a stronger resistance to the Swine Flu.

How Your Immune Response Can Be Optimized

Well, years ago this might have been a challenge as there was no one clear-cut way that was proven to actually directly impact the immune system. Today, however, that has changed.

Thanks to extensive research by such renown experts like Drs. Gustavo Bountous, the “Father of the Elemental diet,” immunologist, Patrician Kongshavn, scientists, and glutathione expert, Dr. Jimmy Gutman, people all over the North American continent can now take that ‘action step’ to optimize the immune response. How, by simply raising the body’s natural glutathione levels.

How To Naturally Raise Your Glutathione Levels to Optimize Your Immune System

There are drugs that raise glutathione, however they all produce size effects, and are not recommended for long-term use. One of the more commonly available and potent glutathione precursor, is NAC (n-acetyl-cysteine). It is a standard treatment for acetaminophen overdose. But, it has two common problems:

Carries a certain toxicity
Has rapid peaks and declines in within hoursThe first problem with NAC is obvious; TOXICITY. None of us wants to add more toxicity to our bodies; as we are already being bombarded with toxins from our polluted environment. Secondly, since NAC has, what is termed, “a short half-life,” due to it decline within hours, maintaining elevated levels of glutathione requires usage several times a day; and that is very hard on the body.

Fortunately, there is a better way. For the first time, there is a natural, safe, clinically-proven way to raise and sustain elevated glutathione levels using a bioactive whey protein. But, this is not just any whey protein, like the kind you can purchase from your local health food store. No, this special undenatured bioactive whey protein has several impressive credentials. Note the following:

75 – Method-Of-Use Global Patents
13 – Number of years in practical use
34 – Number of PUBLISHED medical articles
35 – Number of years of scientific researchSo, if you live in Moultrie, or, Colquitt County, Georgia, or, anywhere else for that matter, and you want to take preventive measures to reduce your chances of getting the Swine Flu; then you need to take an ‘action step’ right now in behalf of your own health, by raising your glutathione levels. If you want to do that naturally, this special bio-available whey protein comes highly recommended.

Does MSM work wonder to treat candida? That question is what this article is going to discuss about, based on a friend. He has been taking MSM for over 2 weeks now and it still doesn’t seem to have had any effect yet. She is wondering if he should keep taking it after he has finished the batch. He raises a problem and asks me, what are other people’s experiences with MSM, does it take a while to start working? (he is taking a reasonably high dose).

Some people I ask, generally they do not see huge effect with MSM. But, on some particular symptoms, MSM does work wonder. For example, a friend of mine, Jane, she has not noticed any particular effect from taking MSM, except that her allergies and asthma are much better and she went off her meds (medicines) within 3 days. She takes 5000 mg a day in 1000 mg pills throughout the day.

Another experience is coming from Linda. For her, MSM didn’t do much for her candida, she has to admit, but MSM did wonders for her allergies within a week. She thinks it depends where your candida is – the pH changes will make it harder for candida to live outside the digestive tract, but if your candida isn’t systemic it might not help much.

Persevere with it – some people say it can take 2 months or so to have a noticeable effect, and even if it doesn’t get rid of the candida it does all sorts of other good things, improving the health of your skin, hair etc.

If you have been seeking a natural angular cheilitis cure, there are a number of simple home remedies you can try which will help bring you some relief. If you have this condition, you are likely to have very painful cracks and cuts around the mouth edges and you may even have crusting on your tongue.

One of the difficulties with treating any condition which affects the mouth is the fact that unlike other body areas, we cannot simply “rest” it! We need to use our mouths all the time for eating, drinking and speaking and the constant movement is one of the problems. If you visit your doctor, you are likely to be given Cortizone Cream but sadly, most people find this to be ineffective.

Cracking lip edges are caused by bacteria which lives naturally and permanently on the lips. Usually, this bacteria causes no problems and it is only when something happens to cause an overgrowth that they cause the very painful symptoms of angular cheilitis. Some people might just experience a single, isolated outbreak whereas others might suffer for months or even years on end. There is not always an obvious reason why it has developed, but for many people the root cause is apparent.

You are more at risk if your immune system is low. People who lack Vitamin B12 are also more likely to have the condition as are pen and nail biters and finger and thumb suckers. In the elderly, angular cheilitis is often caused by ill-fitting dentures.

One simple natural angular cheilitis cure is to have ill-fitting dentures professionally corrected. You should then soak them overnight in a medicated mouthwash or mild bleach solution to ensure that any bacteria is killed off. Also, keep the mouth as clean and germ-free as possible by regularly using a mouthwash.

For persistent finger biters or pen suckers, try painting the offending objects with anti nail-biting liquid. This will discourage the practice and give the cracking lip edges time to heal.

If you feel that a weakened immune system or lack of Vitamin B12 could be an issue, start taking a good all-round multivitamin and you may find that the cracking lip edges start to heal after a few weeks.

To get some temporary relief, one good natural angular cheilitis cure is to thinly coat the sore areas with petroleum jelly or unperfumed lip salve. This will offer some protection and the fact that the splits are no longer exposed to the air will stop much of the pain.

If you have had cracking lip edges for more than a couple of days, it is likely that a fungal infection has taken hold and then it becomes very difficult to eliminate. However, it is still possible to treat angular cheilitis within just 1 day by using a very effective natural treatment which is guaranteed to work.

It has been estimated that 50 percent of all Americans over the age of 50 suffer from thrombosed and bleeding hemorrhoids. It is also estimated that as many as 89 percent of the population will have hemorrhoid problems and symptoms over their life time.

Definition of hemorrhoids (piles)

Hemorrhoids can be defined as clumps or cushions of tissue in the anal canal, which is the last four centimeters from where the stool passes to the exterior via the anus. They contain blood vessels and supporting muscle and elastic fibers. Hemorrhoids are present in everyone. They are only considered a disease or abnormal when the cushions enlarge with blood and become enlarged and cause problems.

It is though not known exactly why hemorrhoids enlarge. Possible reasons for hemorrhoids enlarging include lack or water and fiber intake, prolonged sitting on the toilet or at a desk and chronic straining to pass stools caused by constipation. Excessive straining in passing hard stools due to constipation interferes with the blood flow causing it to pool and enlarge the blood vessels. Lifting of heavy objects has also been linked to hemorrhoid problems. Long periods of standing may also cause symptoms. To learn how to be easily free from hemorrhoid problems go here.

Pregnant women

Women who are pregnant can get enlarged hemorrhoids thought to be caused by the downward pressure of the baby in the last six months of pregnancy. And in the birth process hemorrhoids can break out. However the problem may go away shortly after birthing and never arise again.

One theory of what causes hemorrhoid problems are that the pulling down and searing of a hard stool drags the hemorrhoid down and enlarges it. The process of aging and excessive consumption of caffeine and/or alcohol and digestive upsets has also been linked to hemorrhoid problems.

Connective tissues that support and hold blood vessels in place can become weaker with age causing hemorrhoids to enlarge, bleed and prolapse. Some people may only have a single occasion of bleeding hemorrhoids and pain while others are continuously plagued by ongoing symptoms.

Two types of problem piles

There are two types of problem hemorrhoids, internal and external. External prolapsed ones are located outside the annual sphincter and can become very itchy and painful. Internal hemorrhoids can also cause itching and discomfort.

Pain while going to the toilet, blood on the stool and on the toilet paper are signs of hemorrhoids. There may as well be a localized itching, burning or pain in the area of the anus and sometimes a discharge of mucus.

Hemorrhoids by themselves are rarely serious, but they can be extremely troublesome. However, they need proper diagnosis by a doctor as bleeding could be a result of colon or rectal cancer or something else may be the problem.

Preventive tip

Add fiber. Increase your fiber intake either through foods or fiber supplements or both. When fiber is taken with adequate liquids it softens the stools making them easier to pass to the exterior reducing the pressure on the hemorrhoids and helping reduce bleeding, enlarging of the blood vessels and inflammation.

Seeking relief from hemorrhoid problems is often an embarrassing topic to bring up with family, friends or even your GP. Well now there is no need to be embarrassed just go click on this link and your problems will be solved for you.

It is also commonly known as Piles in layman’s language and is basically defined as a tissue with lot many blood vessels flowing across rectum and end of anus where they tend to merge. The disease commonly arises when there is an enlargement or bursting of these blood vessels because of its obvious reasons and causes.

There are basically two types of Hemorrhoid, namely, Internal and External Hemorrhoid.

Internal Hemorrhoid is the one which occurs in rectum and is lesser painful because rectum doesn’t have pain receptors. It only results in bleeding when itched profusely. Under severe conditions and lapse of treatment on time results in a condition called Pro-lapsed Hemorrhoids. The Hemorrhoid is so much of under pressure that it results in being pushed out of the anus. The degree of prolapses is basically segregated into four distinct types; from grade one to four depending in severity of prolapse.

The second type of Hemorrhoid is External which occurs outside the anal verge and is caused when bursting of veins take place resulting in itching, swelling and sometimes resulting in bleeding. It is of more painful nature of the two. External hemorrhoids are prone to Thrombosis, if the vein ruptures and a blood clot develops, the hemorrhoid becomes a thrombosed hemorrhoid.

There are primarily two reasons for external type of Hemorrhoid .The one which we do not have a control on is genetic predisposition to weak rectal vein walls and second one is due to human dietary habits. Dietary habits i.e. either eating of food which is difficult to digest and to be ejected out resulting in constipation. This results in excessive pressure on the veins and thereby bursting of it leading to bleeding. Even insufficient liquid or water too results in hard stool or constipation. Excessive consumption of dairy products may too result in it. It is too found that excess consumption of liquor may also result in it.

Treatment of external type of Hemorrhoid depends on severity and one’s willingness to surgery or temporary medicinal remedy for pain relief. Treatment for initial phases is very simple and can be done in simple ways. First of all the hygienic condition should be maintained at all times during the day or night. The anal region should be kept clean to avoid any bacterial infection. People should include more of fibers in their diet found from whole grains, fruits and vegetables etc. fibers and roughage smoothen the flow of stool thus reducing the irritation to the hemorrhoids caused by hard stool. One should try to reduce eating junk and spicy food, excessive alcohol or smoking which is the main causes of hard stool. Alcohol consumption and smoking have always been the culprits for increasing a patient’s blood pressure. High blood pressure beyond a certain limit causes the external hemorrhoid to irritate more. One can use sitz bath, ice pack, creams and ointments as recommended by the doctor to get relief from hemorrhoids. However, in extreme cases doctors recommend getting them operated which could be painful.

Day care has become a necessity for millions of American families. Studies suggest that children in a day care environment are four times more susceptible to upper respiratory viruses than children staying at home. According to Medline, a service of the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health, day care centers pose an increased health risk for children and staff because of the exposure to other children who may be sick. Also, children can be exposed to some things in the air that are not present in their own home environment that can trigger other respiratory ailments. That makes sense. So, what can be done?

Some progressive daycare and private pre-schools around the country are doing something to lessen these odds. These facilities are providing a healthy environment of clean, purified air inside their buildings, using a unique and safe technology to eliminate many of the harmful things in the air that children breathe, as well as up to 99.9% of mold and bacteria on surfaces. They realized that they can do something to stop the spread of many illnesses.

The results are healthier, livelier, more alert infants and children that are more responsive to learning and a healthier, happier staff. These schools have also seen fewer sick days for both children and staff. Children can contract or trigger existing respiratory ailments such as asthma, allergies, colds and chronic fatigue created by the air they breathe indoors and by being in close contact with one another. And, children are spending almost 90% of their time indoors. Pollen and air pollution and smog are all present outdoors during those Red Alert days. But the fact is that we have effectively sealed our children inside with some very harmful things in the process of conserving energy. IAQ, or Indoor Air Quality, is a key concern these days.

Many of the major health agencies, including the EPA, World Health Organization and CDC are concerned about the quality of our indoor air. Indoor air pollution consists of three major categories:

• Particulates- are dust, dander, soot, pollen and smoke particles

• Gases/Odors- can include toluene, benzene, formaldehyde, ethyl benzene, styrene,

chloroform, acetone, etc. that are released from furniture, insulation and cleaning chemicals and insect sprays, not to mention pollution particles dragged in on our clothes. Many of these are carcinogenic.

• Microbes- are bacteria, germs, viruses, fungi, spores and mold.

Mechanical filters, even HEPA filters, can clean the air of most of the particulates, but they are “passive” and the air must be pulled through a device to treat it. In addition, these filters have to be cleaned or replaced frequently and can be quite expensive. If they are serviced frequently they can even be the source of contaminants themselves. Scented candles and sprays can eliminate some of the odors, but not the harmful gases, and, once again are local fixes. HEPA filters and electrostatic filters that are called purifiers are not effective in removing odors. Simple UV duct probes have had limited success in this area. None of these can kill microbials or mold/mildew. Disinfectant sprays and cleaning can treat areas for a short period of time, in an immediate area, but the problem can return. Many public facilities mistakenly think that they are solving the problem of mold and mildew by having their carpets periodically steam cleaned, but are simply covering it up with a fragrance and are actually providing additional moisture that can accelerate mold growth.

There is technology available, however, that treats the air electronically. It is a free standing “active” system that is proven safe and affordable, does not require changing filter elements and it does not require the air to be drawn to a device. It not only treats the air efficiently, but also removes odors AND, recent university testing has demonstrated substantial reduction in microbial populations on surfaces. This effective technology has become widely accepted since it’s use by the government during the 9/11 Pentagon cleanup and is currently in use in several government facilities. It is certified by the Space Foundation and is available to the general public through authorized independent distributors. It is currently available to make your home or business a healthier place to live. To learn more about this healthy technology and business opportunity visit

Simply stated, there are two kinds of hemorrhoids – the external type which can be seen with the naked eye and the internal type which can only be examined by a doctor. If the tissue that supports the veins in the anal canal weakens, the swollen veins and tissue can bulge into the anal canal (internal hemorrhoids) or under the skin surrounding the anus (external hemorrhoids). Both conditions are identical in nature, in treatment and they share common symptoms which include bleeding during or after bowel movements, itching or a burning sensation in the anus and rectal pain before, during or after bowel movements.

External hemorrhoids are the hemorrhoids visible to the naked eye. They most commonly appear as a cluster of grape-like, discolored skin surrounding the anus. While irritating and unsightly, this form of onset is the easiest to treat and is usually not the precursor to more serious conditions. However, rectal pain occurs mainly with this form of hemorrhoid outbreak. Also, because the swollen veins are on the outside of the anus, bright red blood streaks will appear on toilet paper after, and usually only after, a bowel movement. Blood spotting before a bowel movement would indicate that the patient is suffering from either internal hemorrhoids or both internal and external hemorrhoids, a rare but not impossible scenario.

In some cases of people suffering from external hemorrhoids, there is the possibility that a vein inside one of the external protrusions may break. In this instance, blood can possibly collect under the skin and may form a hard, painful lump. This lump is called a thrombosed, or clotted hemorrhoid. If this is present, the thrombosed needs to be shrunk or drained quickly to avoid further complications.

Hemorrhoid or pile is rarely a topic of everyday conversation. This medical condition is so embarrassing that no one likes to talk about it. What’s worse is that people who have this ailment do not care to seek medical advice unless their daily activities and comfort is affected by the condition.

How much do you know about hemorrhoids? The following frequently asked questions will reveal some important tips about this silent yet prevalent disorder.

What are Hemorrhoids?

Also known as piles, hemorrhoids are inflamed veins in the anal area due to increased pressure in the rectal veins. We all are susceptible to this condition because we all have hemorrhoidal veins inside and outside of the anus.

How Hemorrhoids develop?

When the walls of the rectum are subjected to increased pressure, the muscles supporting the hemorrhoidal veins weaken. Without these support, the veins enlarge and form a soft lump or protrusion around the anal opening. Lumps formed inside the rectal canal are called internal hemorrhoids, while lumps formed outside the anus is called external hemorrhoids.

A prolapsed hemorrhoid develops when an internal hemorrhoid is pushed outside the anal opening. A thrombosed external hemorrhoid develops when blood clot form in the external hemorrhoid.

What causes Hemorrhoids?

Causes of hemorrhoid may include the following;

1. Constant straining due to constipation

2. Low fiber diet

3. Anal intercourse

4. Sneezing, coughing, and vomiting

5. Bouts of diarrhea

6. Sedentary lifestyle

7. Overweight

8. Lifting too much weight

9. Liver cirrhosis

10. Anal infection

What are the symptoms of Hemorrhoids?

Common symptoms are:

1. Small amount of blood in the stool

2. Blood on the toilet paper after wiping

3. Incomplete bowel movements

4. Rectal itching

5. Soft sac-like protrusion felt at the anal opening

How to prevent Hemorrhoids?

1. Include more fiber and liquid in your diet. Constipation is one of the significant causes of hemorrhoids so do not eat foods that may cause indigestion. Instead eat more fruits and vegetables.

2. Don’t delay waste disposal when you feel like to, else your stool may harden. Drinking a lot of water may soften the stool reducing straining.

3. Maintain an active lifestyle. Exercise help reduces pressure in the veins and so reduces constipation. Don’t sit around too long.

How to treat Hemorrhoids?

1. Take a warm tub or sitz baths several times a day in plain, warm water for about 10 minutes.

2. Use Ice packs to help reduce swelling of hemorrhoids.

3. Apply hemorrhoidal creams to the affected area. Natural ingredients are the best.

4. Wear underwear made of cotton. Prefer loose clothing.

5. Take aspirin or acetaminophen.

For those of you who have experienced hemorrhoids before, you will know that it is often one of the most painful or unpleasant experience one can go through. You must have often wondered what do hemorrhoids look like?

Firstly, if you don’t know what hemorrhoids are, they are like varicose veins and they are only found in the anal areas. They are distended and dilated veins from the hemorrhoidal plexuses – which is the complex of blood vessels in the anal canal and lower rectum area.

Due to the fact that the bowel needs to often contract and expand, the veins in this area need to be stretchable and rather flexible. This is why one cannot suffer from hemorrhoids on any other part of their body, because the veins aren’t able to stretch like they do in the anal region when they are pressurized with blood.

If you are struggling to understand exactly what a hemorrhoid is, try to think of it as the feeblest part of an already weakened region of blood vessels. When you overstrain frequently in the toilet, the weakened veins are put under tremendous amount of pressure. Once the veins have expended to too great an extent, they cannot always return to normal size, resulting in hemorrhoids developing. The number of veins affected at such instances will determine the number of hemorrhoids you get.

Internal hemorrhoids

Internal hemorrhoids will occur if the engorged veins are on the inside of the anus. As such they may not be visible. Some bleeding may be experienced but are usually not painful. However if internal hemorrhoids become prolapsed, that is the engorged veins are on the inside but are so swollen that they hang outside where you can feel them, then you will see some soft tissue poking out of the anus. These are normally light red in color.

External hemorrhoids

As the term suggests, external hemorrhoids are those where the engorged veins occur on the outside of the anus instead of on the inside. External hemorrhoids can be felt as lumps of little bleeding areas underneath the skin. They will not be seen as poking through the anal opening, but are found developing on the rim of the anus. Given where they normally develop, they tend to be brownish in color. Bleeding is frequently experienced as friction and irritation occur easily.

Thrombosed hemorrhoids

The most painful type of hemorrhoids will be the thrombosed type. If you have ever experienced these or know someone that has, you will know that there is nothing that can be more painful in the anal region. The reason these are so painful is because the actual hemorrhoid has a blood clot inside it. Sometimes people refer to such hemorrhoids as non-malignant tumors. It is rather scary to think of it like that, but it actually sounds worse than it really is. Thrombosed hemorrhoids need to be seen to immediately so that treatment can begin before the pain becomes worse.

Visual inspection of hemorrhoids

The way in which many people come to the conclusion that they have hemorrhoids before going to the doctor is by using a mirror to see the area they suspect. That’s often a shocking revelation to the recurring thought about what do hemorrhoids look like. They might look like small lumps of grapes coming out of the anus; these are probably ordinary internal hemorrhoids. The shape, size and color of the hemorrhoids will vary from one patient to the next, so don’t worry if what you see or hear of doesn’t exactly resemble what you are suffering from. Hemorrhoids are hemorrhoids, whether they are big or small, red or brown, painful or painless.

The color of hemorrhoids is mainly what is used to describe and diagnose what kind of hemorrhoids you have. The brownish colored ones are normally external hemorrhoids, the reddish or pink ones are often prolapsed internal hemorrhoids, and the dark red or purple/blue ones are most likely thrombosed hemorrhoids.

What should you do?

Hemorrhoids have been around for hundreds of years. Their history dates way back. Back then there weren’t any medications or operations that could be used, but these days there are many different options for a patient that is suffering from this condition.

For a start, if the hemorrhoids are not thrombosed and are in early stages, there are several ways to manage them yourself.

Firstly, avoid undue straining when clearing your bowels. Do not be overly anxious about passing motion every day. In other words, do not try to force out stools when there is no real urge. If your daily diet is healthy with lots of fiber, the motion will come about readily and easily.

Next, practice good toilet hygiene after each session to ensure that bacterial does not cause further irritation or infection. However, do be careful not to rub too hard when cleaning. Use firm but gentle pressing or dabbing pressure during cleaning. Pressing in toward the anal opening as opposed to rough ‘brushing’ actions also help to push back small prolapsed hemorrhoids.

Other methods such as using warm baths or applying over-the-counter anesthetic creams also help to soothe the anal area to relief the discomfort or pain caused by hemorrhoids.

One other solution which thousands of sufferers have found to be of great help is H Miracle.

If the above suggested solutions do not relief your pain and discomfort, such as those of you with thrombosed hemorrhoids, then professional medical help must be sought. Surgical management such as rubber band ligation and hemorrhoidectomy may be deemed necessary. It is also to ensure that the problem is not due to something much more serious than hemorrhoids.
